Crime Prevention/Youth Mentorship
This program provides refugee youth with the support and important life skills they need to successfully settle and integrate themselves into Canadian Society and prevent them from any criminal activities. This important information is provided to the youth through workshops, recreational activities and individual/family mentorship
- Pro-skills training such as: conflict resolution, anger management, decision making, problem solving and drug refusal skills,
- Education and information: drug and alcohol, community and personal safety, the role of police in Canada
Mentorship component:
- Utilization of community resources,
- Provide increased support and supervision for participants and their families,
- Positive adult role model
Educational support:
- Ongoing contact with the school,
- Engagement in the learning process,
- Improve attendance at school
Family mentorship:
- Intensive family support,
- Peer support,
- Education about the settlement process
Individual or group psycho-social support is provided by social workers
